Futuring committee

All of us are in a relationship with a God who is ever more ready to communicate with us than we are to listen, a God who is ever more ready to bestow grace on us than we are to receive it.  This God is also willing to offer us direction and perspective if and when we are ready to surrender our willfulness and be open to receiving such direction.  And, this God will speak to us through Scripture, tradition, community, relationships, and events and experiences.  What is needed is the gift of discernment so we are able to distinguish between messages from God and messages that stem from our own willfulness or ego.

The word "discernment" comes from the Greek "to sift through".  As we look at our dreams, vision, projects, activities and goals for our church, it becomes clear that we need to listen and hear what God wants us to do as it relates to our wishes and wants.  This "sifting" process needs all of us to participate and to pray for God's guidance.

Next futuring event:  Potluck on June 2nd - Historical Reflection, led by Pastor Bob Foote from Trinity United Methodist Church
