Worship and music

 

Responsibilities of the Worship and Music committee:
     
  + Foster an understanding among the St. John's community of what worship is all about and how it might be enhanced or hindered, as well as the history and practical considerations involved in deciding how we "do worship".
  + Schedule, plan, and publicize worship services
  + Coordinate worship accompanists
  + Oversee the need and provision of worship assistants: acolytes, communion assistants, readers, ushers, etc., including the maintenance of training and job descriptions
  + Oversee and encourage worship leadership through the coordination of choirs and special music
  + Work with the Evangelism and Parish Education committees to develop and maintain adequate nursery facilities and personnel
  + Oversee the procurement of sacramental supplies (bread, wine, baptismal candles and towels)
  + Oversee the tuning and maintenance of the organ, piano, and other instruments
     

 
   
 

We are soon starting a spin-off committee!  This group has not been named yet, but it will be dealing with integrating visual arts into the worship experience.  This group will be responsible for decorating the sanctuary, designing and creating banners, among many other things.  Watch this space for more news!
